Our aim is to help children develop an ability to think and converse in a way which reflects logical thought processes and flexibility of mind. We endeavour to help children learn mathematical skills and knowledge and make these relevant to their lives, both now and, looking to the future, as adults.
To help achieve these aims we follow the National Curriculum (2014), teaching through a blend of traditional and modern approaches. We provide experiences and lessons in which children can study a wide range of mathematical concepts. Practical activity is seen as an integral part of learning mathematics.
We also encourage all children in school to work as independently as possible on their daily mental maths.
See below for what we are covering in Maths this year. This is altered to ensure coverage and support is in place following COVID 19.
